Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, approximately 6 ounces each
  • 1 jar Forté Protein Marinara Sauce
  • 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Place each chicken breast between two pieces of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Gently pound the chicken until it is approximately ½-inch thick so that it cooks evenly.
  3. Season both sides of the chicken with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Crack the egg into a shallow bowl and whisk until smooth. Add the breadcrumbs to a separate shallow bowl.
  5. Dip each chicken breast into the egg, allowing any excess to drip off. Coat both sides evenly with breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and sear for approximately 3 to 4 minutes per side, until the coating is lightly golden.
  7. Spoon Forté Protein Marinara Sauce generously over each chicken breast. Top evenly with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve immediately.
